Rebecca Guy is not just a flutist; she's a passionate music educator with over 25 years of experience enriching the lives of her students through music. Based in Perth, Rebecca's journey in music has taken her across the globe, from teaching and giving masterclasses nationally and internationally to performing in various chamber groups and orchestras around Australia.
Rebecca's musical journey began with a Bachelor of Music degree from the Australian National University in 1999. Eager to expand her musical horizons, she continued her studies in Zurich, Switzerland, specializing in extended flute techniques. Her time abroad broadened her musical palette and enriched her teaching repertoire.
Returning to Perth in 2010 after a stint as a film composer in New York, Rebecca shifted her focus to teaching, where her true passion lies. Dedicated to excellence, she caters to students of all levels, from beginners to advanced players. Her commitment to nurturing talent has seen many of her students awarded scholarships and pursue music at a tertiary level.
As an educator, Rebecca takes pride in fostering a love of music in her students. Whether preparing them for exams, scholarships, or entrance into specialist music programs, her students consistently achieve outstanding results, maintaining an "A" grade average for AMEB exams.
In addition to her private teaching, Rebecca imparts her knowledge and expertise as a flute instructor at Penrhos College. Her dedication to providing opportunities for flute players extends beyond the classroom, with her involvement in initiatives such as the WA Flute Day, and the WA Flute Competition. As well as her roles as a performer and educator, Rebecca also holds the esteemed position of an AMEB examiner and is invited regularly as an adjudicator for local music competitions and eisteddfods.
Driven by her love for teaching and her desire to connect musicians with the joy of music, Rebecca is a beacon of inspiration in the Perth music community. Her commitment to excellence, coupled with her genuine passion for music education, continues to inspire and uplift all who have the privilege of learning from her.
